Obituary: Evelyn Lumsden Scarborough, 90, of Salisbury, NC passed away at Tucker Hospice House on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Mrs. Scarborough was born on May 31, 1926, a daughter of the late William Espy Lumsden and the late Nora Rufty Lumsden. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, JC Robert Brown and her second, James A. Scarborough. Evelyn had worked as a weave room instructor with the former Cannon Mills Co. and was a member of Homestead Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Ronald Brown (Linda) of Monroe, NC; two grandsons; Matthew "Jay" Brown (Annie) of Advance, NC and Robert Bradley "Brad" Brown (Claudine) of Cornelius; great-grandchildren; Chase, Amerys, Delaney and Keira Brown; also by a sister, Connie Brown (Charles. The service for Mrs. Scarborough will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 3rd at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Mitch Thomas. Burial will take place at the West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Whitley's from 10:30-12 before the service.
