Obituary: Evelyn Berry Sherrill, 98, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Transitional Health Care of Kannapolis. Mrs. Sherrill was born October 25, 1915 in Alexander County, Virginia to the late Luther and Leola Dickerson Berry. She retired after many years of service from Cannon Mills; was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis; Evelyn was a talented seamstress making quilts, drapes, and many other things through the years. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great- great grandmother. Survivors include her sons, Tony Sherrill and Jerry Sherrill both of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Tammy Sherrill, Joy Sherrill, Jerry Sherrill, Jr., and Faye Sherrill; four great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Robert R. Berry of Richmond, Virginia. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Sherrill; two daughter-in-laws, Carolyn Sherrill and Glenda Sherrill and a grandson, Tony E. Sherrill. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 20, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darryl Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
