Obituary: Evelyn Pauline Gatton Sloop, 89, formerly of Kannapolis died July 20, 2015. She was born September 28, 1925 in Davie County, the daughter of the late James Louieco Gatton and Minnie Jackson Gatton. She retired from Cannon Mills Finishing Dept. after 38 years. She was a member of Concord First Assembly. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Brad Hargett. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM prior at Whitley's. She is survived by her son, James Michael Sloop (Faye) of Charlotte, three grandchildren, Jackie, Gail and Casey, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
