Evelyn Virginia (Allman) Brown

July 29, 1930 — February 26, 2022

Evelyn Virginia Allman Brown, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully in her home and was greeted by the arms of Jesus on February 26, 2022. Evelyn was born on July 29, 1930 to the late James "Mack" Allman and the late Bessie Honeycutt Allman and is preceded in death by nine siblings. The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, March 3rd at Bethpage United Methodist Church, Kannapolis; service will follow at 1 pm. Memorials may be made to Bethpage United Methodist Church at 109 Fellowship Ave, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 71 years, James Stewart Brown Jr. (97). Evelyn and James joined in marriage July 15, 1950 and have two children, Gay Brown Adams (Jimmy), and Dennis Brown (Sandra); a grandson, Jason Adams; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Parson-Adams; and a bonus great-granddaughter, Kelly Russ Miller (Matthew); and her nieces and nephews. A sincere and special thanks to Kathy Jenkins, her niece, and friends that became family: Jerry and Sheila Fagan, and Malia and Mike Foil.

Evelyn joined Bethpage United Methodist Church alongside James in 1954 and was an active member in the Dot Hurley Sunday School class, United Methodist Women, the Jocie Cook Circle, the choir, and volunteered for many activities within the congregation during her 68 years of membership with the church, and 55+ years of perfect attendance in Sunday School. Evelyn enjoyed sharing stories about children she loved and cared for during her 30+ years employed at Peter Pan Daycare; however, Evelyn is most known in the community for her and James' produce farm, off of Rainbow Dr, especially their tomatoes. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, baking, and cooking; she was always active outdoors with the farm and provided comfort with food, especially her famous buttermilk biscuits, ranger cookies, green coconut cake, and "secret" cake. Evelyn was a true mother, grandmother, and family woman, and was loved by many; she will be greatly missed, but her family takes pride in knowing she is at her eternal home, reunited with those who have passed before.
