Evelyn Young

Obituary: Evelyn Cline Young, 92, of Kannapolis, passed away on Sunday, May 7, after a brief illness. She was born to the late Blanche Propst Cline and Hugh Lester Cline on July 13, 1924. She married Mitchell Young in 1973 and they enjoyed 32 years together. Together, they shared a love of traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren. She loved being a Granny and Great-Granny. Evelyn graduated from J.W. Cannon High School in Kannapolis, N.C., and enjoyed coordinating her high school reunions with her many lifelong high school friends. Evelyn was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and worked proudly at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital as a hospital secretary in the Nursing Services Office for 23 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell, one sister, Gladys Grant, and her sweet dog, Molly, who was her close companion for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Glover, and son-in-law, Eric, of Concord, NC; grandson, Christopher Glover and wife, Jenifer, of China Grove, NC; granddaughter, Jennifer Miller and husband, Andy, of Concord, NC; and two great-grand daughters, Aubrey Cate and Meredith Elizabeth, and was soon expecting another great-granddaughter, Everette Catherine. She also has a sister, Sherleen Morton and brother-in-law, Quentin, of Greensboro, NC; a brother, Bill Cline, of Greensboro, NC; and niece, Linda Moore and nephew-in-law, Norman, of Kannapolis, NC. and several more nieces and newphews. Evelyn's life was remembered at services on 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 9, at Whitley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Hartman of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church presiding and a graveside service at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
