Kannapolis

Everett Clinton “Red” Halsall, born in Providence, RI on May 2, 1925, to the late Robert J. and Elizabeth (Doige) Halsall. He died peacefully at home in Kannapolis, NC on November 17, 2024, surrounded by family and close friends. He lived most of his life in Rhode Island, but moved, in 2011, to North Carolina to live with family and enjoy the warmer weather.

He is survived by his three children, Susan Maiocchi and husband George of Kannapolis, Robert Halsall and wife Camille of Cranston RI, and Bethany Kreshak and husband Steve of Venice FL, his sister, Roslyn Dias of NH, 5 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, who affectionately called him “PaPa Red” and numerous nephews, nieces.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia Hope Parker Halsall, sisters Roberta Chappell (Richard), Phyllis Kirk (Henry), Beverly Lincoln (Edward), and Joyce Lake and his brother-in-law Raymond Dias.

He retired as a Teamster truck driver from the former Blue Ribbon Transportation Co, Pawtucket, RI after 25 years.

He served as a SGT in the South Pacific theatre during WWII from Jan 1944 to Feb 1946, receiving numerous commendations as well as a Bronze Star. He was a proud American and very happy that he was still able to vote in the 2024 Presidential election.

He was a dedicated and loving husband and father, always supporting whatever school, church and activities the family was involved in. Vacations in Ocean Park, Maine were an annual summer event.

He loved to play Bridge, belonging to many bridge clubs in Rhode Island and North Carolina, where he enjoyed a large group of caring friends who knew him for his sense of humor. He also loved golf, jigsaw puzzles, reading the newspaper, and old Westerns and War movies.

He had an incredible will to live and was very independent, still driving to bridge games until his most recent illness.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Vance St, Kannapolis, NC followed by refreshments. He will be buried at the RI Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
