Obituary: Everett Franklin Hunsucker, age 87, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the Gordon Hospice House, Statesville, NC after 6 months of ill health & 2 ½ weeks of critical illness. He was born October 15, 1922 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Lonnie Lee Hunsucker and Edna Sherrill Hunsucker. He was a 1941 graduate of Winecoff High School. He was employed with the former Cannon Mills Co. Plt.#1 Paint Dept. as a painter & later supervisor for 46 years until his retirement. He was a member of First Wesleyan Church, Kannapolis, NC where he had served as an usher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations. In addition his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel McNeil Hunsucker; two brothers, William P. Hunsucker and Lester L. Hunsucker who had lived in Concord, NC; and two sisters, Betty H. Johnston who had lived in Statesville, NC and Mary H. Hager who had lived in Troutman, NC. Pallbearers will be Brian Chambers, Chris Hanzaker, Gene Hodge, Larry Benton, Marshall Hunsucker, and Dale Hunsucker. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. James Matchette and Rev. Edwin Chriscoe. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday prior to the service. Survivors include his special friend, Nell Fortner and her niece, Lillian Parker of Kannapolis, NC; his son, Farrell Hanzaker & wife, Pam of Greensboro, NC; his daughter, Pam Criscuolo & husband, Fred of Connecticut; his sister, Sarah Hager Chiusano & husband, Henry of Troutman, NC; three brothers, Paul D. Hunsucker & wife, Sally of Charlotte, NC, Lonnie L. Hunsucker & wife, Alberta of Concord, NC, and Charlie C. Hunsucker & wife, Louise of China Grove, NC; his three grandchildren, Brian Chambers, Chris Hanzaker, and Kimberly Nicole Searl; and his two great-grandchildren.
