Obituary: Everette Leroy Karriker, 95, of Unity Church Road, Mooresville, passed away December 9 at his home. He was born December 17, 1921 in Rowan County, son of the late Robert Loten and Pearl Karriker. Everette attended schools in the Concordia Church and Landis areas and was graduated from Landis High School and Evans Business College. For many years, he repaired watches and clocks and continued repairing grandfather clocks well into his 80's. He started working at Canon Mills in the weave room, retiring in 1984 after spending 28 years in the drafting department at Canon. During his retirement, he spent many happy years making items of wood in his workshop, stopping at the age of 95 when his health wouldn't allow him to continue. He was a life-long member of Concordia Lutheran Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Pearl B. Karriker, and six brothers: Thurman, Glenn, Clay, Paul Lee, Carl Wiley, and Lewis Karriker. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Dale Ensor of Cookeville, Tennessee, a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Wanda Karriker of Catawba, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many friends and relatives who enabled him to live independently until recently. The family will receive friends Monday, December 11th from 3:00-4:00 pm in the family life center of Concordia Lutheran Church. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Mr. Karriker's life will begin at 4:00 pm in the church, conducted by Revs. Ken Reed and Larry Bost. Mr. Karriker will be laid to rest beside his wife in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church, c/o Good Shepherd Fund, 185 Concordia Church Rd., China Grove, NC 28023.
