Obituary: Everette Eugene Overcash, 90, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a two month illness. He was born November 7, 1926 in Rowan County, NC, the son of the late Demps Vernon Overcash and Mary Deal Overcash. Everette was a graduate of the former Landis High School. In earlier years Everette worked at the former Cannon Mills Company in Kannapolis. Later, he worked at Fiber Industries, Salisbury, NC for many years until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC where he was active in earlier years. Everette was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been active with the American Legion Beaver-Pittman Post 115. He is fondly remembered as an uncle to all of his nephews and nieces throughout the years helping them all with many needs. He also helped his brothers and sisters throughout the years when they were living. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon Overcash, Wilburn Overcash, Ray Overcash; and a sister, Louise Overcash. The funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at St. Enoch Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Pastor Dale Cline. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, January 2, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include his brother, Ernest Overcash of Warner-Robbins, GA; and his ten nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to St. Enoch Lutheran Church, 701 Campbell Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
