Fanell Christy Floyd

Obituary: Our beloved mother and grandmother, Fanell Christy Floyd, age 90, died Sunday morning, May 17, 2015 at home, after a short illness. Mrs. Floyd was born on Christmas day, 1924, in Rowan County to the late Amos W. Christy and Alice Hope McCombs Christy. She was a resident of Kannapolis, NC for many years until moving to Lexington in 2012. Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Ewing, her brother, Max Christy, her niece, Kelly Ewing, and her granddaughter, Jennifer Floyd. She is survived by her children, William Floyd (Terri), Christy Loveall (Paul), Donna Long (Patrick) and Richard Floyd (Cheryl); and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Floyd loved to sing and was active in her church until failing health. The service for Mrs. Floyd will take place at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Revs. Scott Wheeler, Edwin Chriscoe, and Dr. Forbis Kivett. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 1-2:30 before the service.
