Flora Belle Barbee

Obituary: Flora Belle Atkinson Barbee, age 100, of Kannapolis passed away on Monday May 6, 2019 at her home. She was born February 4, 1919 in Chesterfield County, S.C. , the daughter of the late James Robert and Susie Prevatte Atkinson. Mrs. Barbee was a long time member of West Point Baptist Church where she taught children in Sunday school for more than fifty years. The funeral will be held on Monday, May 13 at 2:00 P.M. at West Point Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Barbee is survived by six children Tobie Pierce (Gilbert) of High Point, Linda Hilton (James) of High Point, Sandra Stroup (Richard) of Greer S.C., Roger Barbee (Mary Ann) of Mooresville, N.C., Terry D. Barbee (Nancy) of Longs S.C. and Deborah Barkley of Charlotte, N.C. She is also survived by her brother Bobby Atkinson of Charlotte, N.C. and her sister Linn Burch of Cummings, GA. She was grandmother to twenty one, great grandmother to forty two and great great grandmother to two. Flora, a strong woman and devoted mother, nurtured her six children in her love and through her deep faith in God. She lived her life for her personal family and her church family. Her love and faith will live on in those lives she touched so profoundly. The family would like to thank Hospice of Cabarrus County for their support and care provided.
