Frances Carnes Byrd

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Frances Carnes Byrd, age 92, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 20, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC. She was born September 11, 1917 in Union County, NC, the daughter of the late William Raymond Carnes and Martha Parker Carnes. She was employed at the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt.#1 Wash Cloth Dept. for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC where in earlier years she was active with the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two sons, Joe B. Byrd, Jr. and William (Bill) Byrd; and three sisters, Emma Puntch, Lottie Carnes, and Mary Lee Davis. The funeral service will be 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Dave Cash. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include two grandchildren, Mark Byrd & wife, Dedi of Concord, NC and Heather Byrd Moss & husband, Jarrett of Kannapolis, NC; her daughter-in-law, Patsy Byrd Dagenhart of Kannapolis, NC; two sisters, Lois Shivers of High Point, NC and Raymelle Aiken of Garner, NC; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
