Obituary: Frances Carralee Benton Newsome Campbell, 84, of Mocksville died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at Novant Rowan Regional Med. Center after a period of declining health. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 1 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel with her son, Rev. Michael Newsome officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to her funeral, at other times they will be at her residence. Frances was born January 17, 1934, in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of the late Hubert P. and Ruth L. Munson Benson. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus Campbell, Jr. and her brother and her sister. She was a lifelong area resident and member of Morning Star Freewill Baptist Church in Mocksville. Frances was a loving and devoted homemaker for her family. She will be dearly missed. Those who will cherish her memories include her children, Paul Newsome of Salisbury, Michael Newsome of Mocksville, Lisa Goodnight of Forrest City and Richard Newsome of Mocksville; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and her sister, Lillie Mae Morgan, of Kannapolis, and many other loving family members.
