Frances Deal

Obituary: Frances Young Deal, 97, of Kannapolis died Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at her home after a period of declining health. Her funeral will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, May 18, at Whitley's Funeral Chapel, with Rev. John Melton officiating. Burial will follow Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove. Her family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral home from 11:00 to 12:00 PM prior to the funeral. Frances was born June 4, 1920 in Rowan Co., a daughter of the late Beasley L. and Mary Raymer Wallace. She was the last surviving of 6 children, being preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Frances was a life-long area resident and longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in China Grove. She actively supported her church as secretary/treasurer and also taught Sunday School for over 20 years. In early years Frances worked for the China Grove Dept. Store and then for Cannon Mills Plant #1 in the Wash Cloth dept. Later she and her husband, Connie, owned and operated the U-Needa Launderette and Dry-Cleaner in Kannapolis, retiring in 1981. She then worked for the Rufty Senior Center in Salisbury, as a receptionist. Frances exemplified for her family what Christian living was supposed to be. In addition to her parents and siblings, Frances was preceded in death by her first husband, Connie Arthur Young and her second husband, Ray Deal. She is survived by her sons; C. Delane Young (Kathy) of China Grove and Donnie A. Young (Vickey) of Little River, SC. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
