Frances Elizabeth (Mcclamrock) Mccombs

Frances Elizabeth McClamrock McCombs, 90, of Kannapolis, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the Greens At Cabarrus in Concord.

Frances was born May 30, 1933 in Cabarrus County. She was the cherished only child of the late Allen Harvey McClamrock and Angie Long McClamrock Yost. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a precious infant sister; daughter-in-law, Kathy Greene McCombs; and her loving husband of 63 years, Lewis Coleman “Pete” McCombs, Sr.

Frances was a 1951 graduate of J.W. Cannon High School. She and Pete were married June 16, 1951 at Kimball Lutheran Church. They met at Kimball while they were both active in Luther League and the church choir. In later years they moved their membership to Midway United Methodist Church in Kannapolis, where she was a current member.

Frances worked as a teller in the banking industry for many years. She retired from Southtrust Bank in 1997, having made many wonderful memories and friends. Frances enjoyed her pets, music, beach trips, playing Canasta, and sharing a good joke now and then. Her biggest joy in life, however, was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children, Linda Stewart (Bobby) of Dallas NC, Lewis McCombs Jr. of Kannapolis NC, Amy Nance of Salisbury NC, and Lisa Duplisea (Tony) of Kannapolis NC; she was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 pm on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. The funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Craig Allen officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Greens at Cabarrus and to Hospice of Cabarrus Co. We will be forever grateful for the care, compassion, and love that you showed our mother.
