Frances "Frankie" Pethel

Frances “Frankie” Inez Rabon Pethel, 91, of Salisbury went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at her residence following a period of declining health. 

Frankie was born April 21, 1933, in Rowan County, N.C., a daughter of the late Carl Gregory Rabon and Zula Mae Miller Rabon. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Larry Dale Rabon, Eugene (Gene) Rabon, Carl Gregory Rabon, Jr., Buddy Nelson Rabon and Harold Dean Rabon. A sister, Bonnie Gale Rabon Lussier also preceded her in death.

She was a member of Ebeneezer Lutheran Church. She was a traveler of the world, having visited nine countries. She was a regional leader in the Girl Scouts for many years.

She dearly loved her animals; a horse, four donkeys and her poodle Pumpkin. She enjoyed her flowers and cooking. 

Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Carolina Memorial Park conducted b Rev. Steve Johnson. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Charles Glenn Pethel who preceded her in death November 15, 2015. 

The family will receive friends at Whitley’s Funeral Home Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 1:00 until time of the graveside service. 

She is survived by a brother, Billy “Bill” Rabon and wife Mary Lou of Salisbury and a niece and her caregiver, Melissa “Lisa” Sapp and Barry Boyd of Salisbury. 

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Girl Scouts of America, 1919 Turnersburg Highway, Statesville, NC 28625 or to Ebeneezer Lutheran Church, 4914 Old Beatty Ford Rd, China Grove, NC 28023.
