Frances Rae (Demarcus) Hendrix

Frances Rae DeMarcus Hendrix, 76, of Kannapolis, peacefully passed away Thursday afternoon, March 30, 2023, at her daughter’s home.  She had been in a period of declining health and seriously ill for 1 week.

Born March 4, 1947, in Concord, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Pauline Baucom DeMarcus.

Frances was a 1965 graduate of A. L. Brown High. She was a loyal employee of Cannon Mills for more than 40 years, which she dearly loved. She loved her family and enjoyed time spent with them.  She especially had a close, loving bond with her great granddaughter, Kacie. Mrs. Hendrix also enjoyed beach music and shagging. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family members include her daughters, Terri Morgan, with whom she resided, and Jane Abernathy and husband, Steve; her grandchildren, Raegan and Carly Morgan, Meghan Van Vynckt (Neil), Brandon Abernathy (Jessica) and Bailey Abernathy; and her beloved great granddaughter, Kacie Marie Webb.

A gathering of friends to remember Mrs. Hendrix will be held Monday, April 3rd, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at Mrs.Hendrix's home, 820 Elm Street, Kannapolis, NC. There will be no formal funeral service.
