Obituary: Frances Rebecca Scarboro Honeycutt, 89, of 2113 Bertha St. Kannapolis, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Universal Healthcare & Rehab, after a period of declining health. Mrs. Honeycutt was born December 3, 1922 in Franklin Springs, GA; she was the daughter of the Allen Bunyan Scarboro and Florie Huggins Scarboro. She married Luther Richard Honeycutt in 1940 and they enjoyed a long, loving marriage. She was retired from Cannon Mills, Plant#1, sewing room in 1986 after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Kannapolis Church of God in Kannapolis, where she was a member of the Pathfinder's Sunday School Class and was active in the Women's Ministries. She was a 1940 graduate of Cannon High School in Kannapolis; she had been a resident of Kannapolis since her family moved from Georgia in 1936 with the exception of 6 years (1942-1949) in Wilmington, NC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Honeycutt was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Richard Honeycutt who died in 2009. Son-in-law, Curtis W. Copley; brothers, Allen B. Scarboro, Jr. and Howard W. Scarboro; sisters, Sarah T. Scarboro, and Hazel Scarboro Vaughn. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Honeycutt Copley of Concord; two brothers, David H. Scarboro and Garland F. Scarboro, all of Kannapolis. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barbara Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at their respective residences. The family wishes to give a special "Thank You" to her church; her Bertha St. neighbors for their kind help over the past several years; and the staff of Universal Healthcare.
