Frances Ollene Canupp McCombs, 87, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Accordius of Concord.
Frances was born on November 5, 1935 in Rowan County. She was a cherished daughter of the late Ralph A. Canupp and Nora Belle Wike Canupp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Danny McCombs and sisters, Emily Canupp and Sylvia Perry.
Frances spent her career as a hemmer in the mills. She was a lifelong member of Kimball Lutheran Church. Frances was known as the "original Martha Stewart". She was excellent at sewing and cooking. She had a green thumb and could make anything she put into the earth grow. She shared all her domestic skills with her grandchildren and taught them well. It filled Frances's heart with joy to spend time with her family. She would often stay up late playing board games and enjoying her grandchildren. She loved the beach and listening to country music like Patsy Cline. Frances enjoyed all of John Wayne's movies as well as Gone with the Wind. She left her family with many amazing memories that they will cherish forever. Frances was a kind and gentle lady that will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Frances Moffitt (Robert), Dianne Marlin, Marie Hagler (Tommy), David McCombs (Sandy); grandchildren, Gale Owens, Sandra Moffitt, Kevin Hagler, Kaitlyn McCombs, she was also blessed with many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; her bother, Johnny Canupp and sister Wynema "Sissie" Lazenby.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the service.
