Frances Brooks Summerell

Obituary: Frances Brooks Summerell, age 75, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at her home. She was born December 21, 1939 in Stanly County, NC, the daughter of the late Calvin Teal Brooks and Carrie Huneycutt Brooks. She was the youngest of eleven children. Frances was employed with the Cabarrus County Schools as a bus monitor/driver for ten years for special needs children. Prior to that, she worked at Brooks Sandwich House for several years in Charlotte, NC. She also worked at Pacer Manufacturing, Concord, NC. Frances held her church membership at First Assembly, Concord, NC for the past forty years where she was active in the prayer ministry. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. God and her family were the most important things to her. She also enjoyed going on trips to the beach and mountains with her family. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Summerell; five sisters; and two brothers. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Phil Bennett and Rev. Tom Whidden. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include her five children, Kenneth Lee Smith (Cynthia), Donna Strishock (Daniel), Tambra Cochran (Stacey), James Franklin Smith, Bryte Summerell Lackey (Brian); ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers, C.
