Obituary: Mr. Francis (Frank) W. Chapman, 78, of Shiloh Church Rd., Davidson died Tuesday Feb. 2, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast. He was born Dec. 10, 1931 in Chesterfield County, SC, the son of the late Courtney Guy Chapman and the late Bertie Freeman Chapman. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Athey Chapman on March 29, 2008. They were married in May of 1968. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Courtney G. Chapman Jr. He had formerly worked at Taltronics, Inc. He had formerly owned and operated a Texaco service station in Concord , the Wrangler Drive-In restaurant and Frank's Used Cars. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and reading the newspaper. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday Feb. 5, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Roger Bostic Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12 to 1 PM at Whitley's. He is survived by his son Darrel Chapman of Davidson , his daughter Sheila Harper of Cheraw, SC, two step-sons: Keith Clark of Davidson and David Clark of Florida, 9 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and a sister Carolyn Kelley.
