Obituary: Frank McDonald, age 92, of Kannapolis died Thursday, November 28, 2013 at his home after a period of declining health. His Funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 30 at Whitley's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Elmer Crisco officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Concord. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, prior the funeral. Frank was born May 23, 1921 in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late William and Annie Foster McDonald. Frank was a life-long area resident and veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII and receiving the American Theater Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was retired from Scandura Manufacturing, Charlotte; as a machine operator producing industrial conveyor belts. Frank was a member of East Wood Baptist Church and was an avid gardener. Frank was a loving and devoted husband and he will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, frank was preceded in death by his first wife Novella McDonald and also 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife Pauline Crisco McDonald of the home and by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Bud McDonald of Baltimore MD.
