Obituary: Franklin Ladd Dalton, 69 of Concord, passed away, Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 1, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1601 Cooper Ave, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. He was born May 9, 1949 in Henderson Co. to the late Edward Henry Dalton and Betty Louise Thompson Dalton. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved the outdoors; he enjoyed gardening and sharing produce he grew. He was a bishop for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for eight years. Frank served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and received one Bronze Star and Silver Star. Frank worked for Duke Energy as a supervisor in the Charlotte area for over 30 years. Those left to cherish his memory, his wife Joan Cockett Dalton; three children, Jacob Laurence Dalton (Jesse) of Fuquay Varina, Ashley Dalton Manship of Concord, Lucas Edward Dalton (Stephanie) of Raleigh; nine grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Preston, Emmett, Kanoa, Parker, Isaac, Bentley, and Hazel, three sisters; Lana Dalton, Diana Camp, Rhoda Locklear, three brothers; Ed, Strick, and Olin Dalton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cabarrus Co. Hospice and Palliative Care, 5003 Hospice Ln. Kannapolis, NC 28083.
