Obituary: Fred Walter Daniels, 65 of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Brian Center in Concord. His death follows a brief illness.He was born on July 7, 1917 in Alexander County, a son of the late Columbus Alexander and Emma Harrington Daniels.He was preceded in death by his wife Blanche Daniels, 7 sisters and 2 brothers. He retired in 1981 from Cannon Mills where he had been employed for 45 years as a doffer in #3 spinning room.He was a member ofNorth Kannapolis Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Monday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Chris O'Guinn.Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM on Monday prior to the services. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Daniels Matlock (Gene), of Kannapolis, 2 grandsons; Randy Matlock (Shannon) of Landis, and Marty Matlock (Crystal) of China Grove, 3 Great Grandchildren; Jessie, Brandi, and Spencer Matlock; 2 sisters, Betty D. Tilley (Delbert) of Statesville, and Ruth D. Ham of Taylorsville. Memorials may be made to North Kannapolis Baptist Church, 312 Locust St. Kannapolis, NC. 28081.
Visitation: 1:30 -2:30 PM Monday prior to the funeral service at Whitley's.

Service: 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.
