Obituary: Fred Burton Rapp, 90, of Harrisburg, formerly of Kannapolis passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his girls, Wednesday, January 30, 2019. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 3rd at Whitley's Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Center Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Sunday prior to the funeral. Fred was born March 4, 1928 in Chicago IL, the son of the late Harold B. and Grace Roer Rapp. Fred was raised in Chicago. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He worked for many years as an inspector for AT&T, retiring in 1989. He moved to Kannapolis with his wife, Betty Barringer Rapp, in 1990. She preceded him in death in 2004. Fred was a member of Center Grove Lutheran Church. His hobbies included HO Trains, photography and taking care of his fur babies. He was the family weather man and loved his daughters and grandchildren. Fred will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents and his wife, Fred was preceded in death by his son in law, John Machonis III. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Miller, Sharon Rapp, Carol Rapp, Jean Miller and his cousin, Helen Razo, his grandchildren Matt and Beth Miller, Mark Miller, Tyler and Leslie Rapp and his great-granddaughters, Emily and Ava Young, as well as many loving members of the extended family.
