Frontus “Gene” Hunter, 79, of Kannapolis, passed away Thursday evening, June 17, 2021, at Atrium Health Cabarrus, following a period of declining health.
Born June 20, 1941, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Henry Perry Hunter and Nettie Mae McIntyre Hunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Sheets Hunter; daughter, Janet Hunter Dixon and husband, Joe; and brothers, Timmond and Jerry Hunter.
Gene had retired as a painter from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills after years of loyal service. He was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and enjoyed helping with the church sound system.
Loving family members include his son, Bobby Eugene Hunter and wife, Regina, of Kannapolis; his brother, Henry Hunter and wife, Barbara, of Kannapolis; his 3 grandchildren, Cheyenne Hunter of Kings Mountain, Jerret Dixon and Jessica Preston (William), and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Preston, all of Kannapolis.
Graveside services to remember and give thanks for Gene’s life will begin at 11:00 am Monday, June 21, 2021, at West Lawn Memorial Park, conducted by Pastor George "Butch" Morris. The family will speaks with friends following the service.
