Obituary: KANNAPOLIS - Gail Lumsden Bost, of Harrisburg, N.C., formerly of Kannapolis, N.C., died peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2009. Gail was born in Alexander County to the late William Espy Lumsden and Nora Rufty Lumsden. Gail was a 1945 graduate of J. W. Cannon High School and worked in the Cannon Mills order and processing department until she retired in 1988. Gail was an active member of Organ Lutheran Church in Salisbury, N.C. for 58 years. She served her church family as a children's Sunday school teacher and loved worshipping at Organ Lutheran Church. Gail was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who enjoyed helping others with her gift of time. She was always called "the sweetest woman" by all who met, knew and loved her. She was her husband's "angel" during their 58 years of marriage. Gail's caring and sweet nature, along with her many other gifts, will be missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her husband, R. Derwood Bost, of Kannapolis, in September 2006. The visitation for Gail Lumsden Bost will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home from 3 to 4 p.m., with her funeral service to follow immediately after at 4 p.m. Rev. Terrell Long and Rev. Robert W. Yount will officiate. Graveside rites will be held after the service at Organ Lutheran Church Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Gayle Bost, of Harrisburg; a son, Philip Everette Bost, of Cary; and three grandsons, Caleb Harding, of Harrisburg, Brian Bost, of Wilmington, and Jeremy Bost, of Cary; four sisters, Connie Brown, of Landis, Evelyn Scarborough, of Rockwell, Lois Avant, of Kannapolis, and Maxine Hinson, of Matthews; and a brother, Clifford Lumsden, of China Grove.
