Gail Humberger Smothers, 80, of Kannapolis, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2021, from her home, following a period of declining health.
Born March 6, 1940, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Pinkston and Elsie Yow Humberger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Rhinehardt, and brothers, Ray, Randolph, Jack and Ralph Humberger.
Mrs. Smothers had been a talented seamstress most of her life and was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church. She loved spending time with and caring for her husband and family. She also enjoyed working in her garden with her brother, Ted, going to the curb market and trips to the store. A loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Mrs. Smothers will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Loving family members include her husband, Roy Smothers; her children, Tim Yost, Tammy Misenheimer (David) and Kim Childers (Rob); her brother, Ted Humberger (Sharon), grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Wesley and Somer; great-grandchildren, Anabell, Colton, Bryson and another great-granddaughter to arrive soon.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 20th from 12:00-1:00 pm at Eastwood Baptist Church. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Smothers will begin at 1:00 in the church, conducted by Rev Randall Ritchie, pastor. Mrs. Smothers will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park.
