Obituary: Garland F. Scarboro, 91, of Kannapolis passed away on February 13, 2016 at his home. He was born January 1, 1925 in Franklin County, Georgia, the son of the late Allen Bunyan Scarboro and Florrie Huggins Scarboro. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavie Nichols Scarboro on April 8, 2014. Garland had formerly worked for Bitsy Bakery and then worked and retired from Sand's Distribution. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WW II. He was a member of Kannapolis Church of God. He was an avid dove hunter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Kannapolis Church of God officiated by Pastors Greg Sloop, Sam Crisp and Barbara Watkins. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military honors by the Cabarrus Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 2:00 PM prior at the church. Garland is survived by two daughters, Garlene Scarboro Shinn (Jeff) of Matthews, Kim Scarboro Martin (Doug) of Kannapolis, grandchildren, Adam Shinn (Keri) and Stephen Martin, great grandchildren, Delaney and Jax Shinn, a brother, David Scarboro, many nieces, nephews and special thanks to his niece and caretaker, Ginger Jackson. The family would like to thank Dr. Harrison K. Rhee, Dr. Anupama Ha, hospice nurses Christy Sigmon and Sharon Holt for the love and care shown to Garland throughout his illness.
