Gary Glenn Baynard

Gary “Glenn” Baynard, 77, of Salisbury, N.C. went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2024 at his residence following a period of declining health.

He was born November 16, 1946 in Rutherford County, N.C. a son of the late Rev. Paul Luther Baynard and Annie Jeanette Baynard. He was raised by Nellie Baynard whom he considered his mother. Also preceding him in death were sisters Betty Lou Baynard and Paulette Baynard, brothers Hicks Baynard, and Lewis Baynard.

A Memorial Service will be held at12:00 P.M .Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Michael Almeyda. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex, 601 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC with full military honors by the US Army.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam where he received the purple heart. Gary was an avid coin collector and enjoyed fishing. He was a loving father and grandfather.

He also enjoyed all sports.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife, Donna Burdeau Baynard of the home, two daughters, Alisha Plott and husband Terry of Kannapolis, and Tammy Almeyda and husband Michael of Gastonia. Also surviving is a step-daughter Tiffiany Jones and husband J.R. of Mocksville.

He is survived by a sister, Sandra McElveen and husband Tommy of Hartsville, S.C. Eight grandchildren, Casey Barbee and wife Katie, Bradley Barbee, Jaiden Almeyda,  Jessiany Luelo and partner John, Miyla Plott, Davis Jones,  Bria Plott and Terry Brian Plott, II. Also surviving are three great grandchildren, Lawson Barbee, Felix Barbee and Ellie Allman.
