Gary Edward Haltom

Obituary: Gary Edward Haltom, 74, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 4, 2013 at CMC Northeast Medical Center. Mr. Haltom was born September 20, 1938 in Rowan County to the late Spencer and Nell Bradshaw Haltom. He was preceded in death by a brother Jack Haltom. Gary was a U.S. Airforce Veteran; retired firefighter from the City of Concord; and he attended Centerview Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling to the mountains, had a passion for cooking, and a love for Nascar Racing; He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Frances Haltom; a daughter, Anita Niven (Make) of Monroe; a son, Rev. David Haltom (Traci) of Concord; four grandchildren, Brent Edward Niven, Jeremy Make Niven (Alma), Bethany Hope Haltom, and Aaron Joseph Haltom. A Celebration of life service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Willie Rash and Rev. David Haltom officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Cabarrus County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service.
