Gary Miller

Obituary: Mr. Gary Eugene "Cotton" Miller, Sr. 82, of Landis, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at CMC-Mercy Hospital in Charlotte following a period of declining health. Gary was born October 29, 1930 in Rowan County, NC son of the late Francis Eugene Miller and the late Sybil Dial Miller. A sister, Deane Miller Fleming also preceded him in death. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Landis, a graduate of Landis High School and Pfeiffer College. Gary had been employed by the City of Landis as a water plant operator, retiring in 1994 with 34 years of service. He enjoyed reading and farming. Gary was a veteran of the US Air Force. His favorite past time was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife on 53 years; Marcine Moore Miller of the home, one daughter, Gina Miller White (Delan) of Statesville, one son, Gary Eugene Miller, Jr. (Renee') of China Grove, five grandchildren; Eryn Hagan (Brendan), Jami Guill, Lauren and Carli White and Samantha Ervin (Justin), and four great grandchildren, Ayden Guill, Kai Hagan, Miley and Ally Ervin, and one sister, Gail Miller Phillips (Bob) of Landis, and brother-in-law, Ray Fleming. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Alexis Coleman. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence.
