Geneva Barbee Gaskins , age 97, of Kannapolis, NC, passed away on January 25, 2025 after a brief illness. She was born December 11, 1927, in Kannapolis, the daughter of Roy Lee and Alice Allman Barbee and sister to Delbert, Everette (“Bill”), Minnie Sue, and Foy. Geneva graduated

from Winecoff High School in 1945, then went on to North State Business College. 

 On April 12, 1947 she married Charles R Gaskins (Bo) at Shadybrook Baptist Church where she was a charter member. Their 52-year marriage was a beautiful example of love and devotion. He preceeded her in death on September 13, 1999.

 Geneva retired from Cooperfield Internal Medicine after 22 years of loyal service and then worked for 18 more years at Northeast Medical Center doing what she loved most, ministering to others. In her retirement she volunteered at Northeast Medical Center and Hospice for many more years. 

 Geneva and her sister, Sue Absher, were the driving force in the formation of the food pantry at Shadybrook Baptist Church. Geneva served there until the week before her illness.

 Remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Cindy Hamrick (George) and Randy Gaskins (Leigh Anne); four grandchildren, Mary Justice (Britt), Bo Hamrick (Leslie), Brandon Gaskins (Jennifer) and Katherine Gaskins (Mike); and 11 great-grandchildren, Gibby and Owen Justice; Emma, Hannah and Carter Hamrick; Beckett, Briggs, Bowman and Callihan Gaskins; Hayden and Kynlei Orlando and dear nieces and nephews. The family expresses their appreciation to her faithful friend, Judy Hammett. 

 Visitation will be held on February 1, 2025 at the Shadybrook Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 10:00 am, followed by a Service of Worship at 11:00 am in the sanctuary officiated by Pastor Charlie Littlejohn and a burial at Carolina Memorial Gardens immediately following. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Food Pantry at Shadybrook Baptist Church 1009 Oakwood Avenue Kannapolis, NC 28081; or Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC. 28081.
