Geneva Blume Goodnight

Obituary: Goodnight, Geneva Louise Blume Kannapolis, NC- Geneva Louise Blume Goodnight, age 94, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Universal Healthcare, Concord, NC after a short illness of two weeks. She was born April 13, 1916 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late David Lawson Blume and Minnie Bell Hovis Blume. Geneva was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC. In earlier years she worked five years for the former Cannon Mills Company. She was known by many for custom-sewing pillows as a special service for customers. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd D. (Buss) Goodnight, Jr.; two brothers; and two sisters. The funeral service will be 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Richard Rhoades. Entombment will follow the service at the mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mausoleum chapel prior to the service. Survivors include her son, David Goodnight & wife, Sheila of Kannapolis, NC; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
