Obituary: Genevieve Houston Cowlishaw departed on angel's wings to be with the Lord January 13, 2019. She passed peacefully of natural causes with her children by her side in Florida. She was born in Burlington, Vermont on July 9, 1929. Genevieve attended Barton Academy in Vermont. She worked as a secretary at Hamilton Standard Propeller Corp. in Connecticut where she met her husband. She was a top sales representative with Avon and achieved president's club in North Carolina. Genevieve was a loyal, active member in the church and she loved being with her family and friends. She was a bright light; always giving of her gratitude and love. She sang in the choir and loved music. She was passionate about nature, animals, birds, the beach, the sunshine and being surrounded by God's beauty. She will forever be, God's beautiful angel. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Rev. James E. Cowlishaw Jr., her mother Frances Surprise, sister Gloria Moody, brother Arthur, her foster mother Maude Houston, and her foster brother Ken Houston. Genevieve is survived by her children; John A Cowlishaw, Joy Love (Vince LaPorta), and Jill Fishman (Mike Schantz), her step son James Cowlishaw III (Connie), her step daughter Sue Lyssand, her grandchildren; John A Cowlishaw Jr., Chloe Wheeler (Matthew), Crystal Dickerson (Jeff), Stephanie Fuller, Holly Love M.D. (Fred Chien M.D.), Heather Love, Cassidy Fishman, Taylor Fishman, Jason Fishman, James Cowlishaw IV (Jenny), Jason Cowlishaw (Penny), her great grandchildren; Snow Wheeler, Horizon Wheeler, Alyssa Alexander, Aubrey Fuller, Ali Dickerson, Contessa Dickerson, Cameron Chien, Jodi Cowlishaw, James Cowlishaw V, Samantha Cowlishaw, and Sydney Cowlishaw. Funeral services will be held at Boger Reformed United Church of Christ, 7313 Gold Hill Rd. Concord, NC 28025 on January 26th, 2019 @ 3:00pm, viewing @ 2:00pm (same location).
