Obituary: George "Paw-Paw" Austin, age 80, of China Grove died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family, after a period of declining health. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 1st at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Drye officiating. The Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 31. George was born February 22, 1932 in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late Rosco and Retta Belle Dwiggins Austin. He was the last surviving of 8 children. George was a truck driver and an avid horseman, who put many a mile under his seat. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Millie (Mickie) Lunsford Austin of the family home, 2 daughters, Rushie Austin Shue (Darrell) and Robin Austin Overcash, both of China Grove, 3 grandchildren; Jamie Shue (Heather) of Rockwell, Jason Shue (Lori) of Mt. Pleasant and Tyler Overcash of China grove and 4 great-grandchildren; Austin, Madalynn, Abigail and Eva. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
