George M. Barnhardt

Obituary: George McKenzy Barnhardt, 78, of Kannapolis passed away February 7, 2016 after an extended illness. He was born February 22, 1937 in Iredell County to the late James Ray and Maggie Coley Barnhardt. He had worked for General Motors in Baltimore, Md. and retired in 1987 after thirty years of service. He moved to the Kannapolis area in 1997. George was of the Baptist faith. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Louise Sheets Barnhardt, and four brothers and one sister. George is survived by his brother Kenneth W. Barnhardt and wife Patsy of Nichols, S.C. and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Bushey officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service.
