George Franklin Bost

Obituary: George Franklin Bost, 96, of Kannapolis passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the N.C. State Veterans Home in Salisbury. He was born October 16, 1915 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Zeb Linn Bost and Agnes Smith Bost. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Pauline Bassinger Bost in 2006. He retired from the V.A. Hospital in Salisbury in 1970 where he worked for 26 years. He then co-owned and operated with his son, Bost Tune-Up and Brake Service before retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. He was a veteran of WW II US Army 1944-46. He was a mason and a member of Keller Memorial Lodge #657 in Rockwell. He loved to travel and work in his garden. He also loved his special cat "Buddy". The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Friday at Whitley's. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM Friday, July 6, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dr. Warren Cassiday. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Bost and wife Brenda of Kannapolis, two grandchildren, Clint Bost and Jeff Bost, four grandchildren, Zachary, Jesse, Emma and Jacob, two brothers, Zeb and Wayne Bost and two sisters Annabelle Brown and Hazel Shive. Memorials may be made to St. John's U.C.C., 901 North Main Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081 and The NC State Veterans Home 1601 Brenner Ave # 10 Salisbury, NC 28144.
