George Branch, Jr, 85 of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Northeast Medical Center, Concord.
He was born February 12, 1937 in Greene County, Ark. a son of the late George Branch, Sr. and Ruth Powers Branch. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wyman Branch and a sister Betty Branch Cooley.
He was a 20-year veteran of the US Navy having served three tours of duty in Vietnam and the South China Sea.
He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife of nine years, Carol Elwood Branch, a son, Allen Branch (Susan) of Rock Hill, SC., four grandchildren; Robert Branch(Brenda), Kristopher Branch, Kevin Branch(Crystal), and Ray Branch(Amy).
Five great grandchildren also survive; Robert “Bobby” Branch Jr., Jordan, Alissa, Nathan, and Anna and one Great great Grandchild, Beau.
He is also survived by a step- Son, Bobby and wife Kathy Sykes of Salisbury, step grandson Jacob Sykes of China Grove, and step-granddaughter Jessica Sykes of Charlotte, NC.
He is also survived by his brother James Leo Branch of Florida.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Reverend Dennis Morgan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex with military graveside rites conducted by the US Navy and the Iredell County Veterans Honor Guard.
