Obituary: George Rufus Kluttz, 81, of Concord, NC, stepped into the arms of Jesus Thursday, October 20, 2011 at his residence. Born January 18, 1930 in Cabarrus County, George was the son of the late Louis Charles Kluttz and Lillie Bell Burnette Kluttz. He attended school in Mt. Pleasant and Concord and joined the military service in 1947. Mr. Kluttz served in Hawaii until the Korean conflict where he was employed as motor pool driver and captain's orderly, and squad leader during his two years in Korea. Corporal Kluttz was in 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was wounded twice receiving a purple heart and oak leaf cluster along with other medals. After returning from service in 1951 George attended Veterans School receiving a degree in radio, television tech. later opening his own shop, Concord TV, along with his partners Don Hill and Ray Kimsey for 25 years. He was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church in Kannapolis for 33 years. He was an avid golfer and loved camping at the beach and traveling to the mountains. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was loved by everyone and will be missed greatly. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Brady Kluttz and Charles E. Kluttz; 4 sisters, Bertie Mae Kee, Inez Beach, Bernice Eudy and Pearl Blackwelder. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Colleen Farrington Kluttz of the home; sons, Michael Kluttz, Tony Lee Kluttz and Lorraine, David Lynn Kluttz and Sally, Jeffrey Dean Kluttz and Donna, Richard Steven Kluttz and Darlene; 2 daughters, Brenda D. Kluttz Tucker and David, and Valerie G. Kluttz; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The funeral services will be held Sunday, October 23rd at 2:30 p.m. at Lane Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnathan Casteel and the Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 22nd from 6-8 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral home.
