Obituary: George Watus Miller Jr. "Bud", 87 of Concord passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at his home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday April 21, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Waters officiating; Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday Prior to the service at Whitley's Funeral Home. He was born November 8, 1930 in McDowell Co. NC to the late George Watus Miller Sr. and Mary Edna Godfrey Miller. George worked for Cannon Mills until his retirement in 1992, he was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church, he enjoyed spending time working in the yard, rocking on the front porch, and he loved woodworking, carving, and witling. George loved watching his granddaughter play softball. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Helen Smith Miller in 2012, also two brothers, and three sisters. Those left to cherish his memory, one son Keith Miller of Wilmington, NC, one daughter Becky Miller Blakeley of Harrisburg, one granddaughter Leah K. Blakeley, three sisters, Doris Phiefer of Florida, Mary Revis of North Augusta, SC, Barbara Elliott of Topeka, KS, and one sister in law Joyce Gibson (Charles) of Marion, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Dr. NW, Concord, NC 28027.
