George "Frenchie" Davis

Kannapolis

George “Frenchie” Davis, 91, of Kannapolis, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 2, 2024.

Frenchie was born on August 22, 1932 in Madison County, Georgia. He was a cherished son of the late William Daniel Davis and Sallie Mae Sorrow Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Frances Overcash Davis; three brothers and one sister.

Frenchie was a gentle and quiet soul with a sharp sense of humor.

The natural world was a source of peace and happiness for Frenchie. He found immense joy in the great outdoors.

Frenchie loved softball and was coach for the Cannon Mills Softball Team.

An Army veteran and a devoted member of Lakewood Baptist Church, Frenchie lived a life marked by service and faith.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Joe Davis (Mary); sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Tino, Sarah Russ, and Emma Walters; brother-in-law, Ralph Overcash; George was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. A graveside service will immediately follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis
