Georgia “Reaba” McCraven Hardesty, 89, of Davidson passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at her daughter’s home after a period of declining health.

A memorial service to celebrate Reaba’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 1st at Whitley’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Carl Settle. Her family will speak to friends at the end of the service.

Reaba was born July 29, 1931 in Cornelius, a daughter of the late John T. and Bertha Mayhew McCraven. She was the last living of 12 siblings. In addition to her parents, Reaba was preceded in death by Nellie McCraven Andros, Minna Louise McCraven Smith, Annabelle McCraven Reid, Frances McCraven Petty, Bonnie Lee McCraven, Charlie McCraven, Fred Spencer McCraven, Kitty McCraven Johnson, Willie Mae Warden, Jack Straight McCraven, Jerry Dean McCraven and her son, James Randall Isenhower.

A lifelong area resident, aside from a brief time residing in Ohio, Reaba was all about playing music. She was a talented singer and guitar player; participating in music jamborees, such as, the Fiddlers Convention in Union Grove, NC and Galax, VA and other smaller venues. She loved traveling to the mountains with her family and enjoyed watching the Gaither’s Homecoming and the Swamp People on TV. Reaba loved visits from her family, particularly from her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include her daughters; Dona I. Glover (BG) of Florida and Luana I. Rogers (Randy) of Davidson; her grandchildren, Wendy Winecoff of Davidson, Clint Isenhower (Jennifer) of TN, Andrew Isenhower (Jori) of MS, Holly R. Mullins (Bobby) of Kannapolis and James Rogers (Tia) of Salisbury, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com and in lieu flowers her family requests memorial donations be made in her name to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus Co. 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis NC 28081 or to Unity United Methodist Church, 8605 Unity Church Rd, Kannapolis, NC 28081 for Unity UMC Mobile Meals Fund.
