Gerald J. (Jerry) Bommelje

Obituary: Gerald Jack "Jerry" Bommelje, 84, of Kannapolis passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Tucker Hospice House. He was born March 20, 1931 in Kent County, Michigan, the son of the late William and Caroline Vogt Bommelje. Jerry was a retired accountant. He also worked part-time at Whitley's Funeral Home for many years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1951-55 during the Korean War. He was an avid reader. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Mike Hubbard. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Wednesday prior at Whitley's. He is survived by two sons, G. David Bommelje and Scott K. Bommelje (Sherrie) of all of Charlotte, daughter, Kay Moore of Gastonia and three grandchildren, Blake Bommelje, Bonnie Bommelje and Kayte Moore.
