Gerald "G" Delton Smith Jr.

Gerald “G” Delton Smith Jr., 45, of Kannapolis, passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2022.

Gerald was born on April 4, 1977 in Cabarrus County to the late Gerald Delton Smith Sr., and Wilma Furr Smith, who survives.

Gerald was a talented artist who enjoyed drawing and painting. He was a die-hard Carolina Panthers fan and loved taking his family to the games. He was a devoted and selfless caregiver to his mother. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews and was not a typical uncle. He loved and cared for them as his own. His gifted wit and sense of humor will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Arthur Furr; grandparents, Howard A. Smith and Mary Elizabeth Smith; and father, Gerald Delton Smith Sr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his grandmother, Grace Furr; mother, Wilma Smith; three sisters, Elizabeth Goodson and husband, Todd; April Smith, and Candice Smith; and beloved nieces and nephews, Aaron Smith, Leah Woods, Calab Bennett, Isaac Bennett, Elijah Bennett, Baron Woods, Madison Goodson, Sophia Goodson, and Grant Goodson, and his best friend, Brian Darr.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45 at Whitley’s Funeral Home on Friday, April 8, 2022. A graveside service will follow and be held at 12:00 noon on Friday at Carolina Memorial Park.
