Gerri Ewing Gibbs

Obituary: Gerri Anne Ewing Gibbs, 56, of Salisbury died June 11, 2015. She was born September 5, 1958 in Iredell County, the daughter of the late James Vernon Ewing and Frances Jean Tilley Grimes. She was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Grimes. Gerri graduated from New River Community College and Radford University in Virginia. She was a special education teacher having taught in Virginia for many years and then at A.L. Brown High in Kannapolis. She loved the outdoors; fishing, flowers, birds, but she especially loved being with her family. She was a Jehovah Witness. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 PM Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM Tuesday at West Lawn Memorial Park. She is survived by her, step father (who raised her) Eugene (Pedro) Grimes, husband, Dennis Dean Gibbs, children, Avery Dylan Gibbs, Georgia L. Gibbs, grandchildren, Coralyn, T.J. and Gabriel, brothers, Boyd (Speedie) Ray Ewing, Richard V. Grimes, sister, Robin Ewing, aunts, Linda and Shirley, special friends and family, Angela Grimes, Steve Grimes, Ronnie and Phyllis, Daphnee and Junior, Tony and Debra, William Alexander (closest cousin and best friend), Eric Wright (fishing buddy) and James Avery Starnes (best friend for 43 years).
Visitation: 1:00-2:00 Tuesday June 16, 2015 Whitley's Funeral Home

Service: Graveside service 2:30 PM, Tuesday June 16, 2015 West Lawn Memorial Park.

Interment: West Lawn Memorial Park China Grove, North Carolina.
