Gertie Geneva Pethel Mcdaniel

Obituary: Gertie Geneva Pethel McDaniel, 98, went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 22, 2019, from Tucker Hospice House, surrounded by loving family members. Born May 8, 1920, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Brown Pethel and Maggie P. Pethel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond McDaniel, her son, Harvey McDaniel and a daughter and her caregiver, Judy Ange. Mrs. McDaniel retired from Cannon Mills, later working for Cabarrus County schools. Gertie was a lifetime member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church and loved gardening and flowers. A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. McDaniel will be greatly missed by all. Family members include her daughter, Vickie Waldroup; her grandchildren, Donna Grimaldi, James R. Cox, Brandi Morgan, Kim File, Amanda Lomax and Brian Parker; 14 Great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 PM, Monday, February 25, 2019, at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. McDaniel will begin at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 26, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel.
