Obituary: Gladys Marie Donahue Daniels, 86, of Taylorsville, formerly of Kannapolis, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 following a period of declining health. Gladys was born on July 20, 1926 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late Hamp and Winnie Brock Morrow. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Harold Donahue who died in 1983, and two brothers, Charles Everett and Larry Wayne Morrow. Gladys attended Kannapolis City Schools and was formerly employed by Cannon Mills and China Grove Cotton Mill. She was a member of Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church and a member of the Alexander County Seniors Choir. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, June 7, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel with Rev. Chuck Overcash officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 PM prior to the services on Friday at the Annex Chapel. Gladys is survived by her husband, John Garwood Daniels of Taylorsville, a daughter; Rachel D. Whitley and husband Robert of Kannapolis, 3 grandchildren; Timothy Whitley of Richmond, VA., Lisa Cox of Fort Mill, SC., and Karen Prince and husband Sonny of Kannapolis, a sister; Louise Smith of Kannapolis, 6 great grandchildren, and 3 great- great- grandchildren.
