Gladys Horne

Obituary: Gladys "Marie" Horne, age 70, of Landis died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Big Elm Nursing Home after a period of declining health. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 24 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral. Marie was born March 1, 1947 in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of the late Atlas "Paul" and Ruby Curlee Horne. Marie was a happy soul, who loved everyone. She enjoyed singing, praying, drawing and playing games with the other residents at Big Elm. Marie will be dearly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brothers, Atlas Jasper Horne and Jack Nelson Horne. She is survived by her brothers, Albert and Wilson Horne, both of Kannapolis and Joe Horne of Statesville and her sister, Lois Rebecca Boone of Landis.
