Gladys Huffman Rabon

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Gladys Huffman Rabon, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 26, 2010 at Brian Center, Concord, NC after eighteen months of declining health. She was born February 26, 1927 in Chesterfield County, SC, the daughter of the late Jessie Daniel Huffman and Lula Wren Merriman. Gladys was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plt.#4 in #5 Card Room as a doffer for sixteen years. After retiring she worked for Care Inn as a CNA from 1990 to 2003. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC since 1974. Our mother has gone home to be with the Lord. She's in no more pain. She's with her Heavenly Father now. She will be missed. We loved her dearly. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Otis B. Rabon; five brothers, Burley Huffman, Ray Huffman, Harvey Huffman, Ben Huffman, and Harry Huffman; one sister, Ruth Dayvault; a daughter-in-law, Amy Rabon; a great-grandson, Justin Collins; and a special niece, Barbara Howard. The funeral service will be 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Central Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Curtis Parker and Rev. Allen Reid. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the church prior to the service. Survivors include four sons, Arnold & wife, Kimberly Rabon of Charlotte, NC, Michael Rabon and Kenneth & wife, Sherry Rabon, both of Kannapolis, NC, and David & wife, Becky Rabon of Locust, NC; Three daughters, Jane & husband, Junior East, Bettie & husband, Larry Stancil, and Ann & husband, Larry Wingler, all of Kannapolis, NC; Seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family would like to give special thanks to her Preacher Curtis Parker and Susie, Allen Reid, and all of her church family at Central Baptist Church, for all the prayers and being there for her and her family. We would like to also thank Dr. Moser & staff, Brian Center & staff, and all there nurses & CNA's that took care of our mother. Also thanks to other caregivers from Bayada's nursing and a special thanks to Diane Correll and a very special thanks to her grandchildren Tammy Collins, Angie Lyles, Lisa Cline, Brooke Gibson, and a very special friend, Charlene Barbee and Jody Wingler for coming to the Brian Center and helping feed our mother.
